Megan Mason received a congratulatory acceptance letter! There were 208 applicants with only 80 available spots. Megan is excited and honored to have the opportunity to stay at the University of Iowa Tippie School of Business campus for a week, take a college course in business, and earn three credit hours. It's going to be a fun and rewarding summer for her.
Yesterday Jeremiah Evans placed 3rd Overall out of Top 5 surpassing other Major Iowa Schools at the IJAG Skills Development Conference for employability skills, representing Rock Island High School.
We have eight seniors who will be receiving the Student Impact Award this year. This is given to students who have donated blood or taken a leadership role in the planning process of a blood drive at least 6 times. We usually get maybe one or two recipients because students are only able to start donating at age 16, so the fact that we have eight students that have been involved 6 times over just 1.5 years is awesome. We do not get a lot of participation when raising money or even for social events or theme days. However, our upperclassmen really do care about helping their community in the ways that they can. Our blood donations for the blood drives and food donations for the hunger drive went up significantly the last year and a half.
