Prom Tickets- Students can only purchase them before school, after school, and during lunch. Please do not send them during your class periods to buy tickets. They will be sent back.

Do not send students down during class time for them to pay their fees.  Mrs. Nevener will take fees before school starts or during their lunch times only.

Attention all students- we will be having an EICC representative in on April 29th for any student interested in learning more about their veterinary technician program. If you're interested in attending one of the 25-minute sessions, please go to the counseling office and sign up ASAP. There are very limited spots available, so make sure to sign up right away to save your spot.

Wednesday April 29th, we have Muscatine Community College coming in from 10:00-12:00 to share information about the Veterinary Tech Program. They will be located in the counseling conference room. Please be sure to sign up ASAP. As mentioned, spots are limited.

Congratulations to Elliot Batz! On Saturday night, Elliot broke a Rocky boys’ track and field record in the 1600 meter run that had been standing since 1989.

"If you are bringing a Rocky student to prom, they must come to the window with an ID to purchase a ticket with you. Their fee and discipline standing must also meet the requirements."

"Tickets will be sold Monday through Thursday ONLY. There will be no tickets sold on Friday."

Please do not send students down to the main office during class time to pay fees. They can pay them before school or during their lunch time.

The spirit shop is open this Wednesday during all lunches. The shop is full of shirts, hoodies, Jackets, and a few hats, There's plenty of 2023 homecoming t-shirts for $1, along with 2025 dance marathon shirts also at $1. Only cash will be accepted.

The meeting will feature a presentation from Principal Melody, followed by a focused discussion on Budget, Planning, Transparency, and Federal Funding.

Proof of residency is required for all new students, as well as those entering Kindergarten, 6th grade, or 9th grade.

This week is your last chance to complete and turn in a guest form for prom. The forms are available at the bookstore window and MUST be turned in to the main office by Friday... NO EXCEPTIONS.

Tickets are on sale next week Monday through Thursday at the bookstore window.

You must have fees paid and detentions served before coming to the window.  Please have your ID ready to present with your photo and name clearly visible. "All EL Seniors need to see Mrs. Schrup in Room 131 to get their permission slips for the Wednesday April 29th Field Trip coming up. She will make sure you get a pass back to class."

All EL seniors Mrs. Schrup want to meet you on the Island after school today, Thursday April 23rd to hand out permission slips for our field trip next Wednesday. It will just be a quick 5 min meeting.

The Rock Island High School Choirs performed at the IHSA Organizational Contest last Friday, earning three Grade One ratings for the Treble Choir, Bass Choir, and Mixed Choir. Congratulations to these groups for their hard work and success!

Happy Earth Day! Please consider adopting some of the following habits.

- Recycle materials when you are done with them.

- Reuse materials, many people throw items away after one use that can easily be reused.

- Reduce: reevaluate what you use and consider using less, like carpooling.

- Soiled food containers are not recycled, please avoid placing food or liquids into recycling bins.

Good morning today, April 21st, there will be a meeting for all students that intend to take AP tests. The meeting will take place in the Auditorium during 3rd period. Students that have elected to take the exam should report to the auditorium, once the announcement is made. During the meeting students will receive a letter stating the date as well as the arrival times for morning and afternoon times tests. You will have an opportunity to ask questions during this meeting.

Today, April 21st we have Lora's College visiting in the cafeteria from 11:30-1:00. If you are interested or have any questions please make sure to stop by and meet with their admissions director Rob Stallion.

"All Students taking Seal of Biliteracy need to report to Room 131 Wednesday morning for testing. Also, All testers must go to 131 Monday or Tuesday to check in with Mrs. Schrup prior to the test for important test information. She will give you a pass back to class."

Prom guest forms are now available at the bookstore window. Completed forms are due back in the main office for approval BEFORE Friday, April 24. Reminder that all guest that are out of the Rock Island Milan school district will need to bring a current school ID in order to get into The Stern Center.

Juniors and Seniors, Prom Tickets will be going on sale for $20 each April 27th through April 30th at the bookstore. In order to purchase a ticket, you must have all detentions served, have no OSS after January 6th, have no student-accrued fees, and have a student ID with a visible photo. Prom tickets can be purchased starting April 27th before school, during lunch, or after school.

 

There is a mandatory meeting for students taking AP EXAMS on Tuesday, April 21st during 3rd period in the Auditorium.  Please report to the Auditorium at the beginning of the period.  Important testing information will be shared at that time.

 

Graduation is at The Vibrant Arena @ The Mark, 1201 River Dr, Moline, IL 61265. May30th at 10:00am. More information will come later.

We are thrilled to announce Dr. Yolanda Grandberry Pugh as the new Dean of Students at Rock Island High School, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year!

Dr. Grandberry-Pugh currently serves as the Interim Dean at RIHS. She is a 20-year veteran of the district and has served as a teacher in the English department at RIHS, principal designee at one of the elementary schools in the district, and is a participant in the newly formed Aspiring Leaders Academy.

Rocky pride was on full display last night as we celebrated our Rocky Special Olympics bowling and basketball teams, as well our Rocky Swim Team at the April 14 Board of Education meeting! 

The Special Olympics basketball team earned an incredible 2nd-place finish at the state tournament – an outstanding accomplishment that reflects their hard work, determination, and teamwork. Congratulations to coaches Jeff Martens, Lisa Martens, and Meghan Miers for their leadership in guiding our team to this outstanding achievement!

We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate our two incredible RIHS Special Olympics bowlers, David Pack-Lewis and Izaak McMeans, for placing first and second in state! Special shoutout to their dedicated coach, Stacy Rel.

We are also especially proud of Andrew Oliver and Nathan Anderson for representing Rocky at the state level for diving and the 100-meter butterfly! We extend our appreciation to Head Coach Rebecca Brown and Head Boys Diving Coach Sarah Fueling for their leadership in guiding this team to success!

Well deserved, and congratulations to all involved!

All boys interested in Boy’s Basketball that are not in a spring sport.  We are going to be having
a meeting on Monday April 13th at 3:30pm. The meeting will be in the Field

  Testing starts at 8:30am and you will dismiss around 11:50. Breakfast will be provided from 7:45am-8:15 and lunch will also be provided from 11:50am-12:20pm.


EAC will recycling after school today and working in the garden/greenhouse. Please come to room 29 after school.

Seniors if you have not picked up your cap and gown please stop by the bookstore during your lunch time to get that.
