RIHS will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT during Fall Intersession on Wednesday, October 14th, at 8:00 a.m. Juniors and sophomores interested in taking the test can register in the Main Office with Mrs. Nevener. The cost is $18 The PSAT/NMSQT is a great opportunity to practice for the ACT or SAT, get familiar with the testing experience, and potentially qualify for National Merit recognition and scholarships.

Auditions for the fall play Radium Girls will be Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26 at 3:30pm in the Little Theatre. See Mrs. Foster if you have questions.

If you need credit recovery or if you have fallen behind in your classes, join us for 9th Hour each day from 3:30 - 4:30 in the school library.  9th Hour will be open every regular school day to work on credit recovery or make up any late or missing work in your regular classes. Any time spent working on assignments can also be used to take off your detention time.

The first meeting of the Reading Rocks book club will be Thursday, Sept. 3 during homeroom. See  Mrs. Mendelin or Mrs. Curtiss in the library to join, and get a copy of our first book, Not So Pure and Simple, by our upcoming visiting author, Lamar Giles. Everyone is welcome!

Volleyball Player Meeting Tryouts will be held August 10 & 11 from 3:30–6:00 p.m. All students planning to try out must be registered on Snap! You must have a current physical on file with the athletic department before tryouts.

A special thank you to Dr. Sydney Morris, Chief Education Officer of Instruction with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), for delivering an inspiring keynote that challenged us to continue putting scholars at the center of everything we do and to embrace the opportunities ahead.

What an incredible afternoon at our annual Ready to ROCK event!

A heartfelt thank you to all of the families who joined us, our dedicated staff, our amazing community partners, and the many volunteers who helped make this event such a success. Your support and enthusiasm created an afternoon filled with smiles, connections, and excitement as we prepare to welcome our scholars back for another great school year.

From school supplies and community resources to fun activities, free food, and meeting school staff, this event truly showcased the power of our Rock Island-Milan community working together.
