The PACERS (Positive Achievement and Creativity Equals Righteous Success) program at Rock Island High School held a celebratory reception for graduating seniors on Wednesday, May 9 in the Little Theatre. They were recognized for academic achievement, high days of attendance and low numbers of behavior referrals.
Students have been in the program since 8th grade. The PACER program provides each student with school supplies, dress for success, trained mentors, group meetings, academic and personal support, service learning, employer and college site visits, leadership training and meals.
"It was a great celebration to honor their hard work and focus on academics," said RIHS Counselor Jennifer Page-Pierson. "Students shared their goals and plans after graduation and I'm happy to say everyone has a bright future!"
The PACERS program is generously supported by Western Illinois University Counselor Education program and by AT & T.
