Two of Mrs. Garrison's Culinary Arts classes held the annual Chili and Cornbread contest on Thursday, Nov. 2. Administrators, teachers and the Superintendent served as judges for the event. Students were not only evaluated on their chili recipes, but also presentation and customer service skills.
Some of the students used family recipes, others went online and/or used cookbooks.
At the end of the day, Mrs. Garrison was beaming with pride at how all of her students "stepped up to the plate."
"This challenge put the students out of the class comfort zone but it really helped them get a first-hand glimpse into the foodservice industry. Who knows? This just might interest them to pursue a career in the culinary profession."
Kitchen #6 was the Chili Champion of the 4th period class and Kitchen #3 was the Chili Champion of the 5th period class.
