Rock Island High School (RIHS) and Frances Willard Elementary School have been named RIMSD #41 F.A.C.E. Schools of the Quarter!
Here’s what our F.A.C.E. team had to say about each school:
RIHS has done an outstanding job of planning and hosting creative and engaging events that benefited students, families, and community stakeholders during the 1st quarter of the 2024-2025 school year.
Here are some of the events RIHS hosted to promote family & community engagements:
- Ending the Silence for Families: through its partnership with NAMI, the school was able to help educate families about warning signs of mental health conditions and steps they can take to support themselves.
- Rally at the Rock: this created a welcoming space for families to learn about school and community resources.
- Halloween Fun for the Hunger Drive: this event provided an opportunity for families to come together to support the greater Quad Cities community.
- Reading Rocks: Reading Rocks is a Community Book Club that is open to students and families. This event provided an opportunity to build relationships and support academic growth.
Frances Willard has a phenomenal team that has prioritized engaging their families and community members. They have used culturally responsive strategies, provided information about academic progress, taught strategies that families can use at home, and provided opportunities for families to practice new skills to engage them as academic partners. The Frances Willard team has worked together to strengthen the home-school connection in order to provide students with a system of support as they strive for academic success. They have committed to showing up for their families by giving their time and resources to plan several events during the first quarter of the school year. Their efforts to empower families help us to reach our district goal of building respectful relationships by creating a climate of mutual trust and respect.
