Graduating Rocky Seniors Return to Elementary School

Some members of the Rock Island High School Class of 2024 are warming up for the walk across the stage on June 1 at Vibrant at the Mark!
 
 
During the last week of school, many of our elementary schools invited their former students to put their cap and gowns on and come back to where it all began.

On Tuesday, May 28th, several seniors attended Eugene Field and Rock Island Center for Math and Science's Graduation Parade, where they walked through the halls while students and staff cheered them on.

Longtime RICMS Kindergarten Teacher Jacqueline Krone - who had some of those students in her classroom 12 years ago - took a few moments to wish the grads-to-be nothing but the best for the future. "Since you walked out our doors we have been waiting for this moment. We are so very proud of you all."

At Thomas Jefferson, each senior got to walk with a Kindergarten buddy who was also dressed in full graduation gear.

For the elementary students, it's a way for them to see that one day they could be in the same shoes, and graduate from high school. Many commented about how they couldn't wait to graduate.
 
Frances Willard, Ridgewood, Longfellow and Denkmann Elementary Schools held graduation parades for their former students.
