Rock Island High School counselors spent the morning helping seniors fill out college applications during the school's annual College Application Day.
This year since the event fell on Halloween the theme was "Witch College Are You Going To?"
RIHS counselor Kelly Preston says the college application process can be overwhelming, "We are here to help students take the first step by submitting their online applications, getting them focused on their post-secondary plans."
Reps from Black Hawk College, Augustana College, Western Illinois University, and Trinity College of Nursing were also there to help.
"Having the area college reps is also a huge benefit so students can meet college folks who also talk them through the process and they can put a name to a face, knowing they can contact that person later as they proceed with their next steps," said Preston.
RIHS Counselors and college reps assited around 20 students apply to nearly 25 differernt colleges, with the most popular being Black Hawk College, Augustana and WIU....other colleges included Univeristy of Illinois, Univeristy of Iowa, Drake, Penn State and Chicago State. It is so exciting and interesting to see the array of colleges stuents apply to.
Students who particiapted were able to take "college swag" from the area college and place their name is a drawing for a gift card.
