WITCH College are you going to

40 students showed up to College Application Day at Rock Island High School on October 31, 2019.

Since the event fell on Halloween this year, staff decided to call the event "Witch college are you going to?" Rocky counselors also dressed up as witches for the occasion.

The event is to help students fill out college applications. Counselors, as well as representatives from Western Illinois University, St. Ambrose College, Augustana College, Black Hawk College, and Illinois Student Assistance Commission were there to help students through the process.

Kelly Preston, a counselor at the high school says she wanted to have the event because many of the students are first-generation college applicants.

"Filling out college applications can be daunting and time-consuming so we're here to troubleshoot all of their questions they may have while navigating through the application," said Preston.

The event was able to assist 40 students to start or complete a total of 62 applications.

There was plenty of candy on hand as well as some free giveaways for the students to enjoy.
