Two Rock Island High School Seniors were honored at the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority annual Black Girls Who Rock ceremony on Sunday, April 28 at Second Baptist Church. Breanna Beal received recognition for maintaining honor roll status and for serving as a role model for students who strive to reach their fullest potential as they work toward meeting their goals. Kayla DePoorter received recognition for maintaining honor roll status and for her volunteerism as a student ambassador and for community volunteerism.

 

Rock Island-Milan Board of Education member Dr. Stoner Harris also received an award at the event for her work in education. 

 

The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Xi Pi Zeta Chapter of the Quad Cities the sorority honors high school seniors and other community members each year for their contributions to their schools, communities, churches and organizations.

 

"We are extremely proud of Kayla and Brea! They are both great representatives of Rock Island High School in their academic, volunteer and extra-curricular endeavors," said Rock Island High School Counselor Jennifer Page-Pierson.
