Rock Island High School Counselors spent the morning on Oct. 30 helping Rocky seniors fill out college applications online and enlisted the help of area institutions like Western Illinois University, Augustana College and Black Hawk College.
High School counselors have a large role in helping students find the right college and helping them fill out applications. "We also handle transcripts, recommendations and assist students in keeping track of the requirements needed," said Kelly Preston. "Ultimately, it's the students responsibility, but applying for colleges is a very daunting task and we want to support our students and their families through the process."
Preston said that there were close to 100 college applications filled out online during the course of the morning!
