No School for RIHS and RICMS on Thursday, Aug 24

Due to the extreme heat and air conditioning issues, the Rock Island-Milan School district has decided to close Rock Island High School and the Rock Island Center for Math & Science (RICMS) on Thursday, August 24. Currently, a majority of classrooms at RIHS are not adequately cooled and there are air conditioning issues that are affecting the entire school at RICMS.

For high school athletics and activities, please look for information from coaches.

There will be no YMCA before or after school programs at RICMS. Students attending the after-school program MLK Center may go at the typical time or as early as 8:00 am. The following daycares will allow students already enrolled to attend all day tomorrow: In a Kids World, Skip-A-Long Rock Island Day Care, and Small Hand, Big Hearts. For any other daycares, please get in touch with them directly. Parents will need to talk with their daycare providers about cost.

Both schools are planned to be in session for the half day on Friday.
